Emilio Giovanoli is born in Ticino in 1995. He is an upright/electric bass player and composer active in the music scene across the three main linguistic regions of Switzerland. He began studying piano as a child, but it was his encounter with the electric bass in his adolescence, and later with the double bass, that consolidated his passion for music.
Emilio studied at the jazz section of the HEMU (Haute Ecole de Musique) in Lausanne and at the Jazzcampus in Basel, where he earned a Master’s degree in Performance in 2022. During his academic journey, he had the opportunity to take classes with Larry Grenadier, Bänz Oester and Guillermo Klein.
Beside his own bandleader activity, Emilio can be found regularly on stage and in studio with various projects (Layena, Lea Gasser Quintet, etc.). He has performed in several European countries, including Switzerland, France, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, and Germany.
